EV Battery Recycling Innovation Summit Europe

BASE consortium member Ford Otosan will be represented at the EV Battery Recycling Innovation Summit Europe, where Ali Uğur Tülüoğlu, Product Sustainability Engineer, will deliver a session on how major OEMs are embedding circularity into battery value chains.

The session, titled "OEM-Led Circularity: Building Closed-Loop Battery Recycling for Cost and Supply Security", will explore how automakers are reducing reliance on third-party recyclers by investing in in-house recycling capabilities and strategic partnerships. Attendees will gain insights into how closed-loop systems strengthen supply chain resilience, reduce environmental impact, and secure long-term access to critical raw materials.

Key discussion points include:

  • How OEMs are designing vertically integrated recycling models and embedding circularity into battery design.
  • The role of OEM–recycler partnerships in balancing risk, cost, and innovation.
  • Case studies of recycling hubs, pilot plants, and digital traceability platforms.
  • Benefits of closed-loop systems in reducing raw material costs, logistics emissions, and dependence on virgin materials.

Ford Otosan’s participation in this event aligns with its role in the BASE Project, where it contributes to reference architecture design, semantic data modelling, circularity indicators, safety protocols for second-life applications, and business case pilots. These efforts directly support the development of a trusted and interoperable Digital Battery Passport, enabling greater transparency and circularity across Europe’s battery value chain.
